Financial Education

From when we are very small we are taught to buy the house, get married, have kids and live happily ever after,(not necessarily in that order).

We go to school and learn to read and write and endless other subjects such as languages, science, biology, geography and history.  What for??  Will it make us more intelligent? Earn more money?  (Usually the more that you earn the more that you pay in tax).

What we are never taught about is MONEY and it is such a major part of our lives. We have to live somewhere and eat and these basic necessities cost money.  How do we save money, pay the house off, get the car, send the kids to university?  It is a struggle for a lot of people just to hold their head above water.

What generally happens is that we do exactly as our parents did before us, we spend a life time paying off a mortgage and then we are dead, (hopefully in that order!!).

I think that we should be taught about money in schools.  We should be taught how to save, how to work our money hard and not our bodies. At the moment the only winners are the banks.

What do you think?
