What’s Goin’ On??

Hi Everyone

It’s been a long time between posts, it’s just that life can be so hectic….you would think that once you were semi-retired that life would start to slow down a bit, but it appears that the contrary is the case.  I’ll keep it short and sweet and get into more detail in my next post.

Lots has been happening, but the short version is that we have relocated to Queensland to be closer to family and to chase a bit of the warmer weather.

In my last post I was telling you about some share strategies that I was learning about…….I’m still learning, but have had a bit of a dabble and at present am coming out about even which is GREAT.(If you would like to know more just email me at info@educationtosuccess.com and I will tell you about it!!)

I seriously believe that it doesn’t matter how old you are or where you are at, there is always something to learn and as I have said before ….What is Our Greatest Investment?………ourselves.

Christmas is coming up and we will be away for about 6 weeks so if I don’t get another chance to post beforehand, have a great festive season and be safe.  As a free early Christmas present I would like to give you my TOTALLY FREE e-book on BUDGETING.  If you have any questions just email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

All the best

Janis

Cruisin’

Hi Everyone

Just checking my blog and realised how slack I have been, just never seems to be enough hours in the day.

Well, my husband and I have just come back from a fantastic 3 week cruise on the “Sun Princess” to Vietnam and back, leaving from Fremantle.  Having never been on a cruise before it was one of the greatest holidays that I have had relaxation wise……no phone or internet connection….mind you I was at a bit of a loss for a couple of days, but it didn’t take long to get into doing nothing……  We played table tennis, ate, went to the gym, ate and generally lolled about in the sun, trying to read the books that I had taken with me, and last, but not least ATE…. I can’t believe how much food there was!!!!

Originally this trip was to have been with a dear friend of mine who died before she had the chance to go….I made sure I had a few cocktails for her!!!  Makes you think that you need to live like each day  is your last…as it may well be.  This isn’t a practice for the real thing.

Anyway enough rambling for today, next time I will tell you about a great new share strategy that I am learning.

Keep smiling and do whatever makes you happy!!

Our Greatest Investment……………………….

Hi and Welcome

My name is Janis Donaldson and I am new to this blogging so you will have to be gentle with me.  I am at present living in Bunbury, Western Australia.  The weather is freezing at present and even more noticable for me as we have been living up in the north of the Western Australia for the past  13 years, (the average temperature in the north is about 35 C).  I have had the fire cranked up for the last 3 months, mind you most of the people from around this way are walking around in t shirts so maybe it’s me and my thin blood……..can blood really be thin or fat ?????

Well the topic for my first post is about the greatest investment we will make.  As a baby boomer, which makes me no spring chicken, (mind you maybe a bit of a chicken so my grandson reckons and some days the spring just isn’t quite there), we live in an entirely different world.  But the strange thing is that though the world is different, people are basically doing the same thing. What I mean by that is that we still work, eat, sleep and play, (the order largely depends on your age and inclination!)

We all dream of the ideal life, the great house, the holidays, the new car, buying what we want when we want, the list is endless. But 97% of us end up with the mortgage or renting, car payments, holidays when we can afford them…….. But why???  I think that a lot of it has to do with what we are taught/told……….go to school, get a good job and work for the rest of your life, (that is an over simplification!).

Why shouldn’t we be part of that 3 % who live their lives the way that we only dream about?  What makes them different ? What is holding us back?  I would have to say from my own experience that it is fear, plus feeling comfortable.  It is much easier to go with what we know than try something different, (more so when you are in your autumn years!).

Often we are the last person to spend time or money on.  When was the last time you did something for yourself for no reason other than that you could…..

Often we ignore our Greatest Investment……………….Ourselves. (more…)
